New Workout Space

With our new gym locations in Oakville, Mississauga, and Brampton, we’ve managed to have accessible gyms for Students on all campuses. With Sheridan’s’ student population increasing PSB Fitness wanted to create a space where all students are welcomed and could learn from one another. As a result, our locations incorporated a very spacious design and layout that will enables all members to workout out safely and comfortably in a timely manner. In addition, PSB Fitness offers a wide variety of gym accessories such as Resistance bands, TRX equipment, and much more. The new workout spaces are ideal to host any of our group fitness classes such as Yoga, Pilates, Kickboxing, and much more. As the Semesters continue, more students enjoy being able to participate in workouts throughout the day due to their busy lifestyles, especially during exam season. Covid-19

With the mass closures and the question of whether it is safe to return to the gym PSB Fitness is prepare to continue to help you reach your goals.  Our trainers are continuing to offer instructive video tutorials  that you can do at home or outside.  Additionally, you will be able to communicate one-on-one with our trainers to get you motivated and back at it.  It is still important to balance online lectures and time in the gym, with sports specific training videos for Sheridan students.  Covid-19 should not hold us back from continuing to better ourselves.

How we use sustainability in sports specific training in Mississauga

At PSB fitness are #1 priority is to protect our earth the best we can.  We also believe that sustainable practices should not effect our sports specific training or other workout.  In doing this we have set rules to minimize waste in our gym.  In further, this includes not selling or allowing plastic water bottles in our gym.  As well as not having a vending machine that creates more waste.  Alternatively, we will be including a free metal water bottle in memberships when you first sign up, to be used in our gym and anywhere else!  Moreover, PSB fitness will also have a snack bar in case you are hungry, with fresh baked protein snacks.    Furthermore, our facilities will take advantage of the sun by using skylights for beautiful natural lighting, using solar panels to power our building at night and in the darker months.

About our Membership

At PSB Fitness we offer our own workout machines that come with your membership card after signing up. You can also download the PSB Fitness app or use the machines in the gym to keep track of your workout routines and your personal workout records by logging in with your membership.

Completing online workouts will track the number of calories burned for members, records form/posture, and recommends certain foods to be consumed for after the workouts.

We also offer a rewards with our membership for both employees and customers. You earn points by doing your workouts, group classes and beating your own personal workout records during your time at the gym.

Our Response to COVID-19

We take the safety and well-being of our staff members, current members, and community very seriously. We are following government restrictions closely. Some additional measures we have taken include:

  • A reservation for a 1h time slot must be made in advance using our online booking system
  • Prior to every visit you must complete a health attestation
  • Physical distancing (2m) is to be adhered for the duration of the workout session
  • Masks will be required at all times while in the exercise rooms
  • Wash hands or use sanitizer upon entering the facility and when leaving

Hello Mississauga! Let’s play indoor beach volleyball together!

Hello Mississauga! We’re PSB fitness, an indoor beach volleyball gym opening soon in Mississauga! Are you as excited as we are about our new location opening near Sheridan College in January? We will bring you the very best in therapeutic beach-themed workouts so you can enjoy the feeling of sun, sand and water, even in a Canadian winter! We have an indoor pool and sand pits that mimic the sea shore with infrared lights heating our classes from above. Our aim is to build an inclusive community focused on healthy living right here in our indoor beach volleyball gym in Mississauga. Our classes will focus on group activities on sand and in water, so feel free to invite some friends and get ready to make a lot more new ones! After hot workouts, you and your new friends can cool off with a icy treat from our snow cone bar!

Summer fun even in winter!

Here at PSB Fitness we believe in building a sense of camaraderie while we all progress towards our fitness goals together. Support is offered by instructors and peers as you engage in fun group activities both on the sand and in the water! Although our volleyball games can competitive from time to time, there’s always activities available that are less intensive and more casual. Join one of our hot yoga sessions if you want to stretch out your worries thin! Having a slow day? You’re always welcome to grab a book and relax by water while catching a tan. This space is to have a good time with peers where you leave feeling better than when you came in. PSB aims to accomplish that by offering a judgement free zone and great company!

VISITING A CHIROPRACTOR

What to expect on your first visit

Your chiropractor may be treating your back pain, neck pain, headache. Chiropractors need a complete picture of your health history.

On the first visit, chiropractors may ask:

  • What brought you to see the chiropractor
  • How your condition is affecting you, and what are you trying to achieve by seeing a chiropractor
  • Personal and family medical history
  • Major illnesses you have experienced
  • Surgeries or operations you have had
  • Medications you are taking
  • A description of your present condition
  • The steps you have taken to manage your condition
  • Your diet and exercise
  • Your sleeping habits, daily activities, work routine, stress level, and home life

It is a good idea to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for your visit to the chiropractor. Your chiropractor may perform some of these tests:

  • A check of your blood pressure, pulse, and breathing
  • A test of your reflexes, strength, and sensations
  • Orthopedic tests
  • An analysis of your posture
  • An X-ray of your spine
  • An analysis of your movement

    • how your body moves in the affected area
  • A hands-on evaluation of how well your spine moves, identifying restrictions and areas of improper motion

Tip: Bring a copy of any X-rays or radiology reports you have. These assessments give your chiropractor a better picture of your complete health. He or she will make a diagnosis. Prescribe a course of treatment (chiropractic adjustment). Treatment usually begins after the concent is discussed.

Remember: Your chiropractor will recommend a course of treatment specific to you. It includes mobilization of the joints and Soft tissue therapy,  an ultrasound too. Chiropractors can provide nutritional counseling. Recommend rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies. Your chiropractor will discuss any treatment options with you. Collaboratively, you can decide together on the best course of action for you.

  • The penguin waddle helps you keep a center of gravity.
  • Use the front leg as you step
  • Avoid split between the legs.
  • Short strides help to keep your center of gravity.
  • It helps avoid falls.
  • Don’t keep your hands in your pockets!
  • Walk slowly, with short strides and try to land your steps with a flat foot.
  • the only animal has figured this out successfully is Penguin

Keep walkways clear

  • Shovel snow and scrape ice if possible.
  • Liberally sprinkle ice melt product or sand onto walkways to provide foot traction and to make sure surfaces don’t turn to ice. This protects you and your family.
  • Where possible, install or use handrails for extra support.

Take all precautions

  • Be extra cautious walking after a storm. Tap your foot on potentially icy areas to see if it’s slippery.
  • Hold a railing to walk on icy steps.
  • Stay steady by wearing proper winter footwear. Lightweight boots with a thick, non-slip tread sole will provide good traction on ice.
  • If a sidewalk is icy down the middle, walk on the snow beside it to avoid slips.

Lighten your load

  • Carry fewer bags on snow days.
  • Excess baggage can throw off your balance.
  • Tougher to regain your balance if you lose it.

Boost balance with exercise

  • you can improve your balance through regular exercise.
  • Exercise is an ideal way to help you stay safe.
  • Exercise helps to improve balance, flexibility, and strength.
  • Talk to a chiropractor about ways to improve your balance and strength to prevent falls.
