The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) is an English Language Proficiency Test.
Accepted by a number of governments, universities, and employers as proof of English language proficiency.
The test provides valid and reliable measurement of a test taker’s English abilities.
Scope includes situations, such as communicating with co-workers, understanding newscasts, interpreting and responding to written materials.

Test Versions and Who needs it?
There are two versions of the CELPIP Test:
1. CELPIP General Test
The CELPIP General Test assesses functional listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada accepts this test.
Other organizations that accept CELPIP General Test include the Real Estate Council of British Columbia (RECBC) and Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).
Format- The CELPIP General has four modules – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The total test time is for approximately 3 hours.
Time:
Listening: 47-55 Minutes
Reading: 55-60 Minutes
Writing: 53-60 Minutes
Speaking: 15-20 Minutes
2. CELPIP General-LS Test
The CELPIP-General LS Test assesses functional Listening and speaking proficiency.
The CELPIP General-LS Test has two modules.
Listening and Speaking.
The total test time is for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Time by module:
Listening: 47-55 Minutes
Speaking: 15-20 Minutes
